Fighting Drug Abuse, One Door at a Time

Drug and Substance Abuse Door to Door Awareness Campaigns

Over the past weeks, the Sober Life team has been moving through communities such as Tafara, Epworth, Zororo, Maruva Shin, Overspill, and Glenwood, engaging households in open and honest conversations about drug and substance abuse.

From the stories we’ve heard, one thing is clear drug abuse is not just an individual problem; it is a community crisis. Unemployment, idleness, trauma, peer pressure, and even family influence are driving young people, some as young as 14, into dangerous drug use. Both boys and girls are now equally affected, with many turning to substances as an escape from stress, violence, or hopelessness.

We’ve also met inspiring voices like the 16-year-old student determined to become an anti-drug ambassador and heard brave testimonies from former users willing to speak out about the dangers they’ve faced. Communities have shared solutions too: stronger law enforcement, shutting down local drug sources, creating youth training and empowerment programs, and increasing awareness campaigns targeting both parents and young people.

While the challenges are real from rising crime and family breakdowns to mental health struggles the growing openness of communities to talk about drugs is a sign of progress. Every conversation brings us closer to a united stand against substance abuse.

Our mission continues. One home, one story, one change at a time.
